George Miller III is a lifelong resident of Contra Costa County. He served as the representative of the 11th Congressional District of California from 1975 until his retirement in 2014. During his time in Congress he served as chairman of three committees: the Select Committee on Children, Youth and Families (1983-1992), the Committee on Natural Resources (1992-1994), the Committee on Education and Labor (2007-2010), and was the co-chair of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
